Grand Tetons 100 miler part 2

He did it!! In 32 hours 32 minutes!! After a good shower, he is looking good and walking normally. HE also realized he did not have any sunscreen when he had a long way to go to the aid station. So, he took matters into his own hands and gave himself a mudmask. The best of it all was that he did not get sunburned and everyone had a good laugh!

Now, we are all off to jacksonhole wy for a visit. Then, down south to Provo where we will stay fr the night before heading to Bryce Canyon

Grand Tetons 100 miler

Gilles is at it again. After a strong finish at Cascade Crest, Gilles started this new one at 6 am. He is on a good pace to have a strong finish. Hans Dieter had to drop at the 50 miles due to hip pain. I believe he fell at Cascade. Hopefully, he can recuperate over the next week aand be ready to do Wasatch with Gilles.
Gilles became one with the dirt at one point (details are sketchy) and he has a nice busted lip. A busted lip however has no bearing on your running ability and he is out there. At the halfway mark, I cleaned his feet, which are still blister free (woohoo) and he changed his socks. He is having a great time.

Carson City

Well, tomorrow is packet picket and Saturday begins the 100 mile trek. Linda and I will get to visit the boys at a few spots. IN the meantime, we might try our hand at the casinos, quilt / knitting shops and a few others.

Today, when I spoke with Mami, Papi suggested that we should call Michael Moore so that he could do a movie on the great amount of vacation we Canadians enjoy. This video is for him. He also thought that everything around here would be burnt “quemado”. Well, the contryside is quite dry but Carson City is quite green and lush as the video suggests.

We will post more about the race and our holidays shortly.

Happy Birthday Sofia!

Two years ago today, Gilles and I were blessed with a new little princess in our lives. In her 2 years, we have gotten to know her and love her for her incredibly wacky and zany self. She is tough as nails, already having experienced the emergency room twice. She has her own sense of what she wants even if it is not obvious to the rest of the family. Lord help us all if we don’t know what she wants because the tears flow rather easily. She is a bundle of energy that needs to climb every mountain (or in her case: every bookshelf and table). She is sweet and loving, but can easily sense if a kiss is desired. If so, she plays hard to get. Sofia is not a big talker, which still leaves lots about her a mysterry. Early on, she learned to say Gilles and Elmo. Basically, she has her priorities straight ever since. Her morning routine cannot get properly started until she has sat on her Mami’s lap and eaten a banana. I do have a theory that she thinks she is a monkey, somewhat inspired by curious george.Thank you Cindy and Erol for blessing us with Sofia in our lives. We will never be the same. She definitely adds a spark to everything.
